zoggavia presents a collection of aircraft photos exploring the beauty, sensuality, form and design of classic airliners of the 50's. The airplane is a powerful symbol that has stirred the dreams and ambitions of men and women for 100 years. Aircraft created of passion, remain even more beautiful and alluring today. "Classic Airliners" is an exploration of the multiple and complex roles that airplanes have played in our lives and is a celebration of the classic aircraft enduring beauty.

Step in to the fascinating era of the airline business, when four- and two engined pistons dominated the scenery or coexisted with their jet replacements. Or when carrier marketing focused on equipment types, and colorful, complex paint schemes. Follow the ever changing airport scenes and views inside the cabin of various types of aircraft.

De Havilland Comet page renewed - new photos, Nimrod story amended and closed
c/n 1965 - Lockheed Constellation 049 4X-AKA EL AL added
c/n 1962 - Photo of 310310 C-69 in Transcontinental Line colors after record braking flight added
c/n 1968 - Lockheed Constellation 049 4X-AKC EL AL added. This particular Connie was shot down in 1955
c/n 1969 - Lockheed Constellation 049 N90830 TWA added

Slight re-design of zoggavia - propliner and jetliner pages are unified and the link to both photos and content available on the Kodachrome 35mm page. Currently there are more than 1500 new photos in the updated albums and galleries which are devided into 3 categories:

Featured Propliner

Rare color photo of the Bristol Type 167 Brabazon just before touch down during the Farnborough Air Show in 1950. Powered by 8 Bristol Centaurus radials each driving its own propeller, the Brabazon was comparable with a Boeing B747 in size. Zoggavia Collection.
