The company started as Quaker City Airways in August 1948 and reformed as Admiral Airways in September 1959. In 1961 two L749As were leased from California Airmotive, followed by an L1049 later that year. Three more L749As joined the Constellation fleet during 1962. Due to safety problems, MATS had denied Admiral authority to operate charters for them. Shortly afterward, Admiral ceased operations in October 1962.
