Named after the owner and chief pilot, Pedro Rodriguez, nickname ‘Chaguito,’ Aerochago started operations in November 1982. One L1049 Freighter operated in the Caribbean, followed by an L749A purchased in August 1983. In 1988 Aerochago bought three further Super Connies, all former military aircraft. The company successfully flew the last commercially-operated Super Constellations and DC-7s until the authorities grounded all Dominican-registered non-scheduled operators in March 1993.
