Aer Lingus - Irish International Air Lines
Aerlinte Eireann, founded in February 1947, was a subsidiary of Aer Rianta. The airline ordered five new Lockheed L749 Constellations, but a change of government and a financial crisis prevented the service from starting, and Boac took over the Constellations. Discussions with Seaboard & Western led to the opening of a transatlantic service limited for two years in 1958. The proposed schedule saw operations of three L1049s flying up to 7 trips each way per week in total. N1005C operated the last Super Constellation schedule in December 1960. Aer Lingus continued with its own Boeing 707s and 720s.
